Eligibility for Finnish holiday travel
Type T covers tourism, sightseeing and private non-working visits. It does not cover employment, paid assignments, study or residence. Finnish citizenship and EU freedom of movement do not remove Cambodia's visa requirement.
The Cambodian 2025 dataset recorded 3,514 Finnish arrivals, including 3,159 holiday and 273 business arrivals. These are official arrival classifications, not search volume or eVisa approval data. They indicate a leisure-led travel market and help explain the questions addressed here.
Fast suitability check
- The travel purpose is tourism.
- The Finnish passport will have six months' validity on arrival.
- The first airport or land checkpoint supports eVisa.
- The passport and portrait images are clear.
- The application uses the same spelling as the travel document.
- The application date fits the three-month entry window.
Price, processing and permitted stay
| Official Type T fee | USD 30 |
|---|---|
| Our assisted total | USD 90 including government fee |
| Normal processing | Three business days |
| Entry validity | Three months from issue |
| Stay | Up to one month, single entry |
The three-month validity is the entry period, not the length of stay. Apply early enough to handle corrections but not so early that a postponed holiday falls beyond expiry. Two to four weeks before departure is a practical buffer for many travellers; it is not an official deadline.
Payment is in USD. A Finnish card account may display an EUR conversion and an issuer fee. Confirm online international payments and authentication before starting. The assisted price is disclosed separately because it includes a service and must not be described as the government fee.
Finnish and Swedish characters in passport names
Copy the name from the passport biodata page. Finnish and Swedish names may include ä, ö or å, while machine-readable text uses standard substitutions. If a form limits characters, follow the passport's machine-readable convention consistently. Do not alternate among a personal preferred spelling, an airline-profile spelling and the passport form.
Inspect every digit in the passport number and every date. Finland commonly presents dates clearly, but an international form may reorder day, month and year. Read the field label before typing. Upload the entire biodata page with the machine-readable zone visible and without reflected light.
Use a recent front-facing portrait on a plain background. A passport photograph can be acceptable only if it is current and available as a clean image, not cropped from the physical passport or another identity card.
Helsinki routes and winter connection resilience
Routes from Helsinki may connect through Doha, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Bangkok, Singapore or another Asian hub. Flight networks change by season. During Nordic winter, build resilience into separate-ticket itineraries: de-icing, weather and late inbound aircraft can reduce a connection that appeared generous at booking.
Check through-baggage, terminal changes and whether an overnight connection remains airside. The Cambodia eVisa has no effect on transit permission in Qatar, Türkiye, Germany, Thailand, Singapore or another connection country. Use official advice for the passport and route concerned.
Record the final flight into Cambodia on arrival documents. If an airline changes the Cambodian arrival airport, confirm that the replacement airport is supported and keep the application information coherent.
Accepted eVisa airports and borders
Cambodia currently lists Techo International Airport (KTI), Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) and Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS) for eVisa air entry. Bavet and Tropaeng Kreal are accepted land points. Poipet and Cham Yeam are marked temporarily closed for eVisa entry.
Finnish travellers often combine several Southeast Asian countries. Before buying a bus or transfer, request the formal border name. A ticket mentioning only Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City or Siem Reap does not establish which checkpoint will be used. Verify the official list again shortly before departure.
How to complete the application accurately
- Confirm that Type T matches a tourism purpose.
- Identify the exact first Cambodian port.
- Check six-month passport validity from arrival.
- Create a sharp colour passport image.
- Prepare a recent neutral portrait.
- Enter names using the passport convention.
- Check the arrival date, expiry and email.
- Choose direct government application or assisted service.
- Review the issued eVisa and retain paper and offline copies.
The approval should be checked while there is still time to ask questions. Do not wait until Helsinki airport to discover a wrong passport number or an expired entry window.
e-Arrival and practical arrival preparation
Cambodia e-Arrival is separate from eVisa and should be completed through the official platform within seven days before arrival. Supply current flight, accommodation and passport information. Save the confirmation offline.
Carry travel insurance suited to healthcare, cancellation and the whole itinerary. Insurance is not part of the visa. Keep the passport, eVisa, onward plan and first accommodation details together for airline and immigration checks. Approval does not guarantee admission.
Problems Finnish travellers can prevent
- Mixing ä/ö/å spelling conventions across records.
- Reading the three-month entry validity as a three-month stay.
- Ignoring weather risk on a separate-ticket winter departure.
- Selecting a destination city instead of the actual entry airport.
- Assuming every land crossing accepts eVisa.
- Using an old portrait or reflective passport photograph.
- Completing e-Arrival outside its seven-day window.
- Applying for tourism while planning paid work.
A passport renewed after approval creates a document mismatch. Ask the official eVisa authority how to proceed; do not assume the old document automatically remains usable.
Who benefits from assisted application review?
Direct official submission is suitable for travellers who are confident about documents, spelling, dates and route. Assistance can be valuable for a multi-country itinerary, a planned land border, a family group, uncertain image quality or a name that displays differently across systems.
Our USD 90 total includes the USD 30 government fee and support. It does not purchase government preference, guaranteed approval or guaranteed admission. The reason to use it is an additional pre-submission check and help with the application process.
Questions Finnish citizens ask
Can I apply while travelling elsewhere in Asia?
Yes, provided the application uses the Finnish passport that will be presented in Cambodia and the intended first entry point is accurate.
Does an EU passport allow visa-free entry?
No. Cambodia's exemption list is nationality-specific, and Finland is not included for ordinary-passport visa-free tourism.
Does every child need an application?
Yes. Each child requires documentation connected to the child's own passport, details and portrait.
Can I use eVisa on a Thailand–Cambodia bus?
Only if the exact Cambodian checkpoint currently accepts it and all Thai requirements are met. Check the operator's named route before purchase.
Should I print the eVisa?
Carry a printed copy as well as an offline digital copy. This avoids dependence on airport Wi-Fi, roaming or battery power.

Winter departure and missed-connection planning
A Finnish winter departure introduces risks unrelated to immigration: snow operations, de-icing and delayed ground transport can shrink a connection. An eVisa may remain perfectly valid while the traveller misses the final flight. Build additional time into separate-ticket travel.
On a protected itinerary the airline may manage a missed onward flight under its conditions. On separate tickets, the passenger may need a new fare and may reach Cambodia on another day or at another airport. Verify the entry-validity window and supported port after any rebooking.
Family names and document separation
Review every Finnish passport independently. Compound surnames, Swedish-language names and ä, ö or å can appear differently in booking systems. The passport and its machine-readable representation are the reference. A child's permission does not follow a parent's approval.
Make sure sibling passport scans and portraits were not exchanged. Check each passport's expiry against the arrival date. Store sensitive files securely and remove temporary public share links after they are no longer needed.
Responsible application timing
For a confirmed trip, two to four weeks often creates a useful correction buffer. For a holiday likely to move by several months, wait until dates are stable enough to protect the three-month entry window. Check passport validity before buying a restrictive ticket; renewal does not update an issued eVisa.
After approval, compare the identity fields and dates with the passport, then check the final Cambodian port. Keep an unchanged PDF and a printout. A phone screenshot alone can omit important parts of the document.
Direct portal or paid review?
Choose the direct USD 30 government route when you can confidently complete and verify the form. Choose the USD 90 assisted route only when document, route or family review has practical value. The total includes the government fee but is not itself an official fee.
Neither route guarantees approval or admission. A legitimate service reduces avoidable application errors and explains the process; it cannot sell preferential treatment.
Three Finland-to-Cambodia travel scenarios
Helsinki to Siem Reap on a protected itinerary
Confirm the final code SAI, through-baggage and Cambodian arrival date. Keep the visa timing aligned with the trip rather than the first ticket-purchase date. Complete e-Arrival only within the official seven-day window.
Nordic feeder plus separate long-haul ticket
Allow for winter disruption and baggage recheck. Check whether the transfer requires entry into the connection country. If a missed flight moves arrival, verify the visa validity and final Cambodian airport again.
Thailand and Cambodia overland
Ask the operator for the exact Cambodian checkpoint. Confirm current eVisa acceptance instead of assuming every border near Siem Reap is supported. Also check Thai requirements for the Finnish passport and itinerary.
Travel-document and privacy hygiene
Store the passport scan, approval and insurance documents in a secure offline folder. Avoid public share links and remove copies from hotel printers or shared computers. An application reference should not be posted publicly.
No legitimate support agent needs an email password, bank password or one-time banking code. Complete card authentication yourself. If a transaction stalls, verify the bank and application state before attempting another charge.
Evidence-led content for search and AI answers
The direct answer, fee table, accepted ports and e-Arrival timing are deliberately written as self-contained passages. They can be understood without extracting a promotional sentence from its context. Official links sit in the same article so a traveller or answer engine can verify time-sensitive claims.
Finnish travel advice remains country-specific: name characters, Helsinki connections, winter resilience and EU assumptions are addressed separately from Cambodian rules. The page does not claim that 2025 arrivals equal keyword demand or future sales.
Final check before leaving Finland
Verify the physical passport, not a saved scan. Confirm six-month validity, approval dates, correct name representation and the final Cambodian port. Complete e-Arrival within seven days and use the final inbound flight rather than the Helsinki departure.
Download the approval and insurance details for offline use, print the eVisa and check the connection forecast. During winter, leave home-to-airport margin as well as flight-connection margin. A train delay and a flight delay are separate risks.
If the route, passport or purpose changes, reassess before travel. An old approval should not be stretched to fit a materially different journey simply because it has already been paid for.
Practical reminder: review Finland's current travel advice alongside the Cambodian portal. Insurance, consular preparation and safe travel are separate from visa approval, and each deserves its own pre-departure check.
Before travelling to Helsinki Airport, inspect the physical passport and final flight record together. Keep warm-weather destination documents accessible despite winter clothing and cabin-bag changes. Each traveller should know where their own approval is stored, while one secure family backup can protect against a lost phone or depleted battery.
Finnish travellers should note local Cambodian time when contacting accommodation or support. Save essential addresses in Latin text and confirm late-night check-in where necessary. These operational details are outside the visa, but they make the arrival plan credible and usable.
Review the application on a larger screen when possible. Small mobile displays can hide a mistyped digit or selected menu value, while a final desktop comparison makes the complete passport record easier to inspect before submission.
