Who should use Tourist eVisa Type T?

Use Type T for tourism: a holiday in Phnom Penh, Angkor, the coast or a private non-working visit. Do not choose it for employment, paid assignments, study or residence. A traveller attending commercial activities should verify whether Type E or another route fits the real purpose.

Cambodia's 2025 dataset records 5,004 arrivals from Kazakhstan, including 4,244 holiday and 742 business arrivals. This indicates meaningful travel, but it does not represent search volume, eVisa submissions or approvals. Our eligibility statement relies on Cambodia's published visa rules, not the arrival count.

Cambodia eVisa fee and timing

The validity period tells you when entry may occur; it is not a three-month stay. Plan the application around the expected arrival. Two to four weeks before departure is a practical buffer for most uncomplicated routes, without applying so early that a postponed trip falls outside the entry window.

A card charged in USD may trigger KZT conversion, foreign-transaction controls or bank verification. Confirm the final amount and transaction state before retrying a payment. Repeated attempts can create temporary authorisations.

Names in Kazakh, Russian and Latin scripts

Kazakhstan documents can involve several scripts and spellings. The Cambodia form should reproduce the Latin text in the passport being carried. Do not transliterate a Kazakh or Russian name yourself, and do not replace passport spelling with a version used by a bank, employer or airline loyalty account.

Keep surname and given names in their designated fields. The Kazakhstan individual identification number is not the passport number and should not be entered in a passport-number field. Compare every digit, birth date and expiry date twice. Use the machine-readable zone as a cross-check, not as a reason to invent punctuation the form does not accept.

Photograph the full biodata page under even light. Hologram glare commonly hides characters when a phone is held directly above the laminate. Tilt the light, not the document, and make sure the bottom machine-readable lines remain sharp.

Flights from Almaty or Astana

Possible connections include Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Istanbul and Dubai, depending on schedules and season. A low fare may combine airlines on separate tickets. Check baggage transfer, terminal changes, overnight airport access and whether the transit country requires the traveller to pass immigration.

The Cambodian eVisa applies only to Cambodia. It does not satisfy Thai, Malaysian, Korean, Turkish or Emirati transit and entry rules. Confirm those rules using the passport actually used for travel. If the final segment changes, verify the Cambodian airport code and eVisa support again.

For long connections, compare arrival time with hotel check-in and local transport. The e-Arrival declaration should use the final flight into Cambodia, not the first flight leaving Kazakhstan.

Airports and land borders that accept eVisa

Current air entry points are Techo International Airport (KTI), Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) and Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS). Bavet and Tropaeng Kreal currently accept eVisa at land entry. The official portal marks Poipet and Cham Yeam temporarily closed for eVisa entry.

This is especially important when combining Thailand, Laos or Vietnam with Cambodia. Ask the transport operator for the formal checkpoint name. A route sold as “Bangkok–Siem Reap” may use a checkpoint whose status differs from the destination city. Recheck near departure because border operations are changeable.

3. Check passport validity from the arrival date.
4. Prepare an uncropped colour biodata image.

Never rely only on an application screenshot. The issued eVisa, passport and application reference serve different purposes. Ensure the approved document is available before starting the trip.

Cambodia e-Arrival and border preparation

Complete Cambodia e-Arrival separately through the official platform within seven days before arrival. It does not replace the visa. Enter current flight, accommodation and passport details, and keep the confirmation accessible offline.

Border officers may assess passport validity, purpose, accommodation and onward plans. An approved eVisa does not guarantee admission. Carry coherent supporting information, especially when a route includes several countries or a land crossing.

• Entering an IIN instead of the passport number.

The charge is denominated in USD. Your bank may convert it to KZT and add its own fee. Check international online payments and 3-D Secure before starting.

Do children need separate applications?

Yes. Every child travels on passport-linked permission and needs their own accurate personal details, passport image and portrait.

Can I enter by bus from Thailand?

Only after confirming both the Thai formalities and the exact Cambodian checkpoint's current eVisa status. Destination city alone does not identify the border.

What if my passport is renewed?

An eVisa is linked to submitted passport details. Contact the official authority for instructions and do not assume the old approval automatically transfers.

A three-script quality-control method

Put the Kazakhstan passport beside the form and temporarily ignore every other document. Compare surname, given names, nationality, birth date, passport number and expiry one field at a time. Then use the machine-readable zone as a second check. Only after identity fields agree should the airline booking be compared.

This order prevents an applicant from trying to reconcile Kazakh, Russian and Latin spellings simultaneously and accidentally creating a fourth version. A domestic-language spelling may be correct in its own context, but Cambodia needs the identity prepared for international travel.

For family applications, create a separate checklist per passport. Similar names can lead to one child's portrait being attached to another application. Rename upload files with neutral applicant numbers and keep passport files out of public shared folders.

Overland itinerary decision guide

If Cambodia is the only destination, an accepted international airport often produces the simplest eVisa plan. For a Thailand, Vietnam or Laos combination, decide the country order and exact border before submission. Ask the operator for the Cambodian checkpoint's formal name, whether passengers change vehicles, and what happens if the route changes.

Compare the answer with the official list. A verbal promise from a ticket seller cannot override immigration information. Do not treat visa on arrival as an automatic fallback; verify its availability and requirements before reaching an unsupported border.

Timing and approval audit

Three business days does not mean 72 continuous hours. Cambodian holidays, weekends, a replacement scan or bank verification can extend the process. Yet applying too early starts the three-month entry window before a flexible trip is settled. Balance correction time against expiry.

After approval, open the document and match name, passport number, nationality, birth date, visa type and validity. Keep the unchanged PDF, paper copy and reference. If something is wrong, contact the proper support route; editing the PDF would not change the government record.

Almaty to Phnom Penh through Bangkok

Confirm whether the connection is airside and whether luggage is checked to KTI. The Cambodian arrival date is taken from the final segment. If Thailand entry is required for a self-transfer, check Thai rules separately.

Astana holiday with a Kuala Lumpur stop

Use the international passport's Latin spelling for every ticket and application. Verify terminal and baggage arrangements. A Malaysia stop does not change Cambodian eligibility, but it can create its own transit obligations.

Regional tour entering Cambodia by road

Obtain the formal checkpoint from the operator before submission. Verify it against the official list and recheck close to travel. Do not select a convenient border name simply because the itinerary has not yet been finalised.

Evidence to keep for a straightforward arrival

Carry the unmodified eVisa, passport, e-Arrival confirmation, first accommodation and onward or return plan. These records should tell one coherent story about a short tourist visit. They do not guarantee admission, but they allow routine airline and border questions to be answered clearly.

When accommodation is paid by another traveller, retain the reservation showing the applicant as a guest where possible. When the onward journey is by bus, keep the operator and route details. Avoid creating false bookings; accurate provisional evidence is better than a document that cannot be explained.

Security and payment safeguards

Use a private device and an HTTPS connection. Do not send card credentials, banking passwords or one-time codes to a support agent. A payment verification page may request bank authentication, but the applicant should complete it directly.

If the page times out after payment, check bank and application status before trying again. Save receipts without exposing them publicly. The application number is useful for status checks and should be treated as private travel information.

Final readiness questions

Can the traveller explain the trip as a short holiday? Does the passport remain valid for six months? Are the Latin names identical on passport, booking and approval? Is the first Cambodian checkpoint currently supported? Does the issued validity cover the local arrival date?

If every answer is clear, complete e-Arrival in its seven-day window and prepare offline copies. If one answer is uncertain, pause before departure and verify it through an official source. A fast application is not useful when the route or identity data is wrong.
