Cambodia eVisa eligibility for Nepalese passport holders

Nepal is not on Cambodia's published ordinary-passport visa-exemption list. A Nepalese passport holder therefore needs the correct Cambodian visa even for a short tourism visit. The online Type T route is intended for tourism: sightseeing, visiting Angkor, a private holiday or a short non-working visit. It is not the correct category for paid work, employment, study or long-term residence.

A traveller whose real purpose is business should not select “tourist” merely because the online form looks simpler. The three-month validity is an entry window, not permission to stay for three months. Once the traveller enters, the permitted stay is up to one month. Applying far too early can cause the entry window to expire before the flight; applying at the last moment leaves no margin for a blurred scan, payment verification, weekends or Cambodian public holidays.

Upload the complete biodata page in colour. All four edges should be visible, text should be sharp and the machine-readable zone at the bottom must not be cropped, reflected or covered. A citizenship certificate, national identity document or passport cover cannot replace the passport biodata page.

Copy the Latin spelling exactly. Nepalese names may appear differently on school certificates, citizenship papers, bank records and airline accounts. The Cambodia application should follow the passport that will be carried. Do not invent a surname, move part of a compound name, or “correct” the passport transliteration to match another document.

Portrait photograph

Use a recent, front-facing colour photograph with a plain background and even light. Avoid a cropped group photograph, beauty filters, sunglasses, hats, shadows and screenshots with interface icons. The face should be easy to compare with the passport image.

Travel and contact details

Prepare the intended arrival date, first accommodation, a working email address and the exact Cambodian port of entry. Keep access to the email account: application updates and the approved eVisa are delivered electronically. A provisional itinerary can be used only when it truthfully reflects the trip; update plans if the arrival airport changes.

Routes from Kathmandu and transit checks

Most Nepal-to-Cambodia journeys require a connection. Common planning hubs include Delhi, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, although schedules change. The Cambodian visa covers Cambodia only. It does not give permission to enter India, Thailand, Malaysia or Singapore during a self-transfer.

Read the itinerary as one operating plan, not merely two flight numbers. Check whether bags are checked through, whether terminals change, whether separate tickets require baggage collection, and whether an overnight connection passes immigration. A Nepalese traveller may face different transit-document rules from a traveller holding another passport on the same flight.

When a connection crosses midnight, use the local Cambodian arrival date for the eVisa and e-Arrival checks. Leave a buffer between separate tickets. A missed onward flight can shift arrival to another day or airport, and an airport change may make the selected eVisa entry point inaccurate.

Which Cambodian entry points accept eVisa?

Current accepted air points are Techo International Airport (KTI), Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) and Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS). The official portal currently identifies Bavet and Tropaeng Kreal as accepted land checkpoints. Poipet and Cham Yeam are shown as temporarily closed for eVisa entry.

This distinction matters for Nepalese visitors combining Cambodia with Thailand, Vietnam or Laos. “Land border” is not a sufficient itinerary description. Confirm the exact checkpoint name before applying and again before travel. Border operations can change, so the current official portal overrides an old blog, map pin or tour-company message.

Airport choice in plain language

• Choose KTI when the ticket lands at Phnom Penh's current international airport.
• Choose SAI for a direct arrival serving Siem Reap and Angkor.
• Choose KOS for an international arrival at Sihanoukville.
• For a bus or private vehicle, match the named land checkpoint exactly.

1. Confirm visa type. Use Tourist Type T only for a genuine tourist visit.
2. Confirm the first entry point. Do this before choosing a flight-plus-bus itinerary.
3. Prepare clean files. Photograph or scan the passport and portrait without glare.
4. Enter passport data. Follow the Latin text and machine-readable zone exactly.
5. Review dates. Check birth date, passport expiry, intended arrival and the three-month entry window.
6. Pay through the chosen channel. A Nepal-issued card may show NPR conversion or bank verification even though the charge is in USD.

Cambodia e-Arrival is separate from the eVisa

The Cambodia e-Arrival declaration is not a visa and does not replace one. Complete it through the official Cambodia e-Arrival platform within seven days before arrival. It collects arrival, accommodation and customs-related information.

Use matching details across the passport, eVisa, airline booking and e-Arrival. If a hotel or flight changes, use the most accurate current information. Keep the e-Arrival confirmation available offline because mobile data may not be active immediately after landing.

• Assuming every Thailand–Cambodia land crossing accepts eVisa.
