Nine-point facts ledger
| 1 | Ordinary Polish passport holders require a Cambodian visa for tourist travel. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Tourist eVisa Type T is the normal online tourist route where the entry port accepts it. |
| 3 | The Cambodian Tourist visa service fee listed for Type T is USD 90. |
| 4 | Normal processing is listed as three business days. |
| 5 | The visa is valid for entry for three months from issue. |
| 6 | The tourist stay is up to one month and the visa is single entry. |
| 7 | Cambodia e-Arrival should be filed within seven days before arrival. |
| 8 | Current eVisa entries include KTI, SAI, KOS, Bavet and Tropaeng Kreal. |
| 9 | Poipet and Cham Yeam are temporarily closed for eVisa entry. |
The three-month period is the window for entering Cambodia, not a three-month holiday permission. The final stay date comes from Cambodian immigration at entry.
Build the Polish document file first
Start with the physical passport, not the flight confirmation. Check remaining validity, the passport number, the issuing country, birth date, photograph, blank pages and condition of the biographical page. If the document will be renewed before travel, wait for the new passport before applying because the eVisa record is tied to the passport details submitted.
Polish names can include ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ż and ź. They may also include hyphenated surnames or more than one given name. Copy the travel document carefully. If the Cambodian form accepts Polish characters, keep the spelling from the visible passport field. If a field rejects them, use the MRZ as the practical transliteration guide and apply that same choice everywhere.
The MRZ is not a nickname source. It is a machine-readable version of the same identity, often simplifying characters such as Ł to L. After submission, compare the approval against the passport number, name, nationality and date of birth before arranging the next travel segment.
Choose the visa route by activity
Type T fits a private tourist journey: Angkor, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Battambang, Kampot, Kep, Sihanoukville, island travel, temple touring, photography, food trips, visiting friends without working, or a single Cambodia stop inside a wider Southeast Asia plan. It is convenient for Polish travellers because approval can be checked before the long flight chain begins.
Do not use a tourist visa for employment, paid remote service, journalism, professional filming, formal study, structured volunteering that functions as labour, NGO work, a business posting, or residence. The short length of a visit does not change its purpose. If the work question is real, confirm the proper Cambodian category before paying.
Dual nationals, people of Cambodian origin, diplomatic or service passport holders, emergency document holders, and travellers with previous Cambodian overstays should obtain case-specific guidance. Ordinary tourist guidance assumes one valid Polish ordinary passport and a short non-working visit.
Application sequence from Poland
- Confirm tourism. Describe the trip honestly before selecting Type T.
- Inspect the passport. Check validity, condition, names, number and MRZ.
- Choose the Cambodian gate. Identify the airport or land checkpoint where immigration will occur.
- Prepare images. Use a clear passport-page file and a recent front-facing portrait.
- Enter identity once. Follow the passport, using MRZ logic only where a form cannot accept diacritics.
- Review the price. Separate Cambodia's USD 90 Tourist visa service fee from any optional service fee.
- Submit and save. Keep the reference, receipt, confirmation email and application summary.
- Audit approval. Compare every core field before travel.
- File e-Arrival. Complete the separate declaration inside the seven-day arrival window.
A second application made in panic can create more work than a delayed email. Check spam folders, payment status and the official case function before creating another record.
PLN cards, payment trails and disclosure
Cambodia lists the Type T Tourist visa service fee in US dollars, not in Polish zloty. A Polish card issuer may settle the payment in PLN after exchange conversion, card-network markup and any foreign transaction charge. The bank statement can therefore show a different zloty amount from a simple public exchange-rate calculation.
Optional application support may cost more if it includes file review, reminders, translation help or customer service. That service charge should be disclosed apart from the Tourist visa service fee. No private provider can guarantee visa approval, shorten Cambodian discretion, or force admission at the border.
Before entering passport data, identify who operates the site, how much is paid to the government, what is paid for assistance, how refunds work, and how personal documents are handled. Claims that present a much higher amount as the official Type T Tourist visa service fee should be treated with caution.
Timing around long connections
Normal processing is three business days, but Polish travellers should allow a working buffer. Routes from Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Katowice or Poznań often pass through Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul or Ho Chi Minh City before Cambodia. Weekends, public holidays, bank authentication and image replacement can add delay.
Use the date of arrival in Cambodia, not the date the first aircraft leaves Poland. A night departure from Warsaw can land in Cambodia one or two calendar days later. The e-Arrival seven-day period also counts back from entry into Cambodia.
Do not apply so early that the three-month entry validity expires before the trip. If flights, passports or family membership are still changing, wait until the file is stable enough for a clean submission.
Ports and routes that matter
For airport arrival, the Cambodian eVisa list names KTI for Techo International Airport, SAI for Siem Reap Angkor International Airport and KOS for Sihanoukville International Airport. For land arrival, the listed choices are Bavet in Svay Rieng and Tropaeng Kreal in Stung Treng. The same official source marks Poipet and Cham Yeam as temporarily closed to eVisa use, so older overland itineraries should not be trusted without a fresh official check.
A connection through Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City is not itself Cambodian entry. If immigration happens at Siem Reap, the port is SAI. If the first Cambodian airport is Phnom Penh, verify KTI. If the route goes Vietnam to Cambodia by road, check whether Bavet is the actual crossing rather than a city named in a tour brochure.
Type T is single entry. A traveller leaving Cambodia for Thailand, Vietnam or Laos and returning later needs a new lawful basis unless another status clearly applies. Plan each border separately instead of treating the regional loop as one document.
e-Arrival, hotels and local address records
Cambodia e-Arrival is separate from the eVisa and should be completed within seven days before Cambodian arrival. Use the same Polish passport, the same identity spelling, the expected arrival date, the first accommodation address and the route details. Save the QR or confirmation offline and keep a printed copy with the visa certificate.
Each traveller needs individual handling, including children. Families should label files by traveller name and passport number so one person's approval is not presented for another. A shared email account is useful only if the attached files are unmistakably named.
Use a real first-night address. Hotels and registered accommodation commonly handle local guest reporting, while private stays may require host cooperation. Keep proof of where the traveller stayed, especially if an extension, police report or consular issue later arises.
MFA, Odyseusz and insurance preparation
Polish citizens should read the Ministry of Foreign Affairs travel information for Cambodia before leaving. MFA advice can cover security, health, local law, border conditions and limits of consular support. Odyseusz registration can help the MFA contact travellers during a crisis or serious disruption, but it is not a visa service and does not replace Cambodian immigration rules.
Buy insurance for the itinerary that will actually be taken. Check emergency medical treatment, evacuation, hospital payment, repatriation, missed connection, baggage delay, theft reporting, scooter or motorcycle exclusions, diving, trekking, alcohol-related incidents and pre-existing conditions. Cambodia visa approval is not medical coverage.
Keep the insurer's emergency number, Polish consular contacts, passport copy, eVisa, e-Arrival QR and first hotel address available offline. Share the route with someone in Poland who can help if a phone is lost or a hospital needs family contact.
Families, replacements and overstay risk
Children on Polish passports require separate document checks. Their passports may expire sooner than adult passports, and compound or hyphenated family names can be copied incorrectly. When a minor travels with one parent, relatives, a school group or another adult, carry relationship, consent or custody records needed by airlines, transit countries and departure controls.
If a passport is lost or stolen before departure, replace it before relying on any Cambodian approval linked to the old document. If the loss happens in Cambodia, report locally where required, contact Polish consular assistance, and follow Cambodian immigration instructions for exit or record correction. A temporary travel document does not automatically recreate a visa record.
Overstay is a serious administrative problem, not a cheap extension method. Fines, detention risk, future visa issues and airline disruption can follow. If illness, accident, flight cancellation or passport loss threatens the departure date, contact the insurer, airline and Cambodian immigration before permission expires.
Common Polish mistakes
- Mixing passport spelling with casual spelling across different forms.
- Dropping a second given name shown on the passport.
- Using diacritics in one record and MRZ rendering in another without reason.
- Reading PLN settlement as a change in Cambodia's USD fee.
- Counting from the Polish departure date instead of Cambodian arrival.
- Selecting Poipet or Cham Yeam from an outdated itinerary.
- Waiting until the airport to file e-Arrival.
- Assuming one family upload covers every traveller.
- Buying insurance that excludes planned riding or rural activities.
The last review should compare passport, eVisa approval, e-Arrival QR, ticket, first accommodation, insurance certificate and payment record. Fix small mismatches while still in Poland.
Polish route examples
A Warsaw traveller flying through Doha to Phnom Penh should prepare the Cambodia file around KTI, because that is where Cambodian immigration will be met. A Kraków traveller connecting through Bangkok and then flying onward to Siem Reap should prepare for SAI. A Gdańsk traveller who first visits Vietnam and then rides by road into Cambodia should verify Bavet if that is the named checkpoint. The city used for transfer is useful for airline planning, but it does not replace the Cambodian port field.
Multi-country tickets can compress timing. If a first segment from Poland is late, the traveller may arrive in Cambodia a day later than planned, and the seven-day e-Arrival window may be counted differently from the first draft of the itinerary. Keep accommodation flexible for the first night, avoid a non-refundable internal transfer immediately after landing, and do not schedule departure from Cambodia on the final permitted day.
For a group trip, appoint one person to maintain a document register rather than one person to rewrite everyone's forms. The register can list passport number, approval reference, e-Arrival status, insurance policy and first hotel for each traveller. The entries should be checked by the passport holder, because only the traveller can catch a familiar spelling error in a Polish surname.
Before leaving home
The final Polish pre-flight review is practical. Place the passport, printed eVisa, e-Arrival QR, insurance certificate and first accommodation address in cabin baggage. Store the same records offline on a phone and in a second place that is reachable if the phone is lost. Turn on card travel controls and confirm that bank authentication messages can be received abroad.
Check weather, health and local-law notes through official sources rather than relying on old posts. Cambodia's entry process can be smooth when the file is consistent, but a damaged passport, missing second given name, closed land border or unsupported activity can still stop a trip. Resolve those problems before the first Polish train, domestic flight or international check-in.
Small Poland-specific safeguards
Many avoidable problems start outside the visa form. Polish travellers sometimes buy a regional package in Polish, receive airline records in English, and then see a Cambodian form with limited character handling. Keep a single spelling sheet beside the passport while applying. Write the chosen rendering of each given name and surname once, then use that sheet when checking the eVisa, e-Arrival, airline passenger data, hotel booking and insurance certificate.
For travellers departing from regional airports, leave enough time between a domestic feeder and the long-haul flight. A missed connection can push Cambodian arrival outside a hotel booking, travel insurance condition or planned e-Arrival timing. If the route begins by train to Berlin, Prague or Vienna before the intercontinental flight, keep the Cambodian documents ready before leaving Poland because correcting a passport scan from a station or airport lounge is inefficient.
Carry a simple emergency note in Polish and English with insurer, family contact, blood type if known, allergy information and first Cambodian address. It is not an immigration requirement, but it helps when a travel companion must speak for the traveller after illness, accident or phone loss. Keep it away from the passport copy so a stolen bag does not expose every personal record at once.
Frequently asked questions for Polish citizens
Is a visa required for Polish tourists?
Yes. A Polish ordinary passport needs a valid Cambodia visa for a tourist visit.
What does Tourist Type T cost officially?
The listed Cambodian Tourist visa service fee for Type T is USD 90, before PLN conversion or optional service charges.
How many days should processing take?
The normal official processing period is three business days. Build in extra time for weekends, holidays, bank checks and image corrections.
How should Polish diacritics be entered?
Follow the passport. If the field cannot accept characters such as ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ż or ź, use the MRZ-consistent rendering and keep it consistent.
Does the visa allow three months in Cambodia?
No. Three months is the period for using the visa to enter. The tourist visit is capped at up to one month.
When is Cambodia e-Arrival filed?
Complete it as its own arrival declaration during the seven days before Cambodian entry.
Which Cambodian ports should I check?
Check KTI, SAI, KOS, Bavet and Tropaeng Kreal as listed eVisa choices, and note the temporary closure at Poipet and Cham Yeam.
Does Odyseusz replace travel insurance?
No. Odyseusz supports consular contact in emergencies; travellers still need suitable insurance and Cambodian entry documents.
What if my passport changes after approval?
Ask the official channel before travel. A Cambodia approval linked to the old passport number may not match the new document.
