Is an eVisa the right option for your Korea–Cambodia trip?
An eVisa suits a South Korean tourist who wants the visa decision before departure and plans to enter through a supported airport or land border. It is useful for a short Phnom Penh business-free holiday, an Angkor visit, a coastal trip or a multi-country itinerary where Cambodia is one stop.
It may not suit a traveler arriving at an unsupported checkpoint, staying longer than the listed tourist allowance or undertaking employment. A person traveling for paid work, local business operations, study, volunteering that constitutes work, journalism or residence should verify the correct category and any work authorization before travel.
Do not choose solely on price. Route compatibility and purpose are more important. A low-cost visa that cannot be used at the planned crossing does not solve the entry requirement.
Passport and identity requirements
Use the Republic of Korea passport that will be presented at airline check-in and Cambodian immigration. The eVisa form relies on Latin-character details and the machine-readable passport zone. Copy the English name exactly. Do not replace the passport spelling with a different romanization used on a bank card, social profile or older document.
A practical minimum is six months of passport validity from arrival. If the passport is close to expiry, renew it before applying. A visa tied to the old passport number may not transfer automatically to a new document.
- Clear color image of the complete passport information page.
- Recent front-facing portrait with a plain background and no beauty filter.
- Reliable email address for confirmation and approval delivery.
- Accepted payment method for the fee.
- Arrival date, accommodation and intended entry port.
- Return or onward itinerary available for travel checks.
South Korean names can be represented with spaces or hyphens in different systems. The passport version is the only version that matters for the application. Compare every character before submission.
Step-by-step application preparation
- Confirm tourism is the correct purpose. Tourist eVisa does not authorize employment.
- Check passport validity and condition. Damage, missing pages or a short validity period can create boarding or entry problems.
- Verify the route. Match the final Cambodian airport or land checkpoint with the official eVisa entry list.
- Prepare original-quality files. Export a clear passport image rather than a compressed messenger copy.
- Enter the identity exactly. Follow the English passport fields and machine-readable zone.
- Review the total charge. Separate the USD 90 Tourist visa service fee from any optional support fee.
- Save the application reference. Keep it with the payment receipt and passport copy.
- Check the approval. Compare all important fields immediately after receipt.
- Complete e-Arrival. Submit the separate declaration within seven days before entry.
Processing time for travelers applying from South Korea
Cambodia states normal eVisa processing of three business days. This should be treated as a service estimate, not a deadline guarantee. Cambodian weekends and public holidays, payment checks, image quality or additional review may extend it. The Korean calendar does not determine processing days.
For a planned holiday, apply around one to two weeks before departure, while ensuring the three-month validity still covers arrival. Longer buffers are useful during major holiday travel periods. Avoid submitting hours before check-in.
If the approval email does not appear, check junk mail and the status facility before creating another application. Duplicate forms can lead to duplicate charges and uncertainty over which document to use.
Visa fee, currency conversion and private service charges
Our Tourist Visa application service fee is USD 90. A South Korean card issuer may convert the amount into KRW and add a foreign transaction charge. That bank conversion is separate from the Cambodian visa fee.
Independent application services may charge for document checking or support. The complete checkout should identify the service provider, Tourist visa service fee, service fee, refund conditions and currency. Paying a private fee does not purchase guaranteed approval or special treatment from immigration.
Use a secure connection and verify the domain before uploading passport information. Search ads can place unofficial sites above the government result. If using support, choose it knowingly rather than mistaking it for a government requirement.
Airports and land borders accepting eVisa
The current official list includes Techo International Airport (KTI), Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) and Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS). Bavet in Svay Rieng and Tropaeng Kreal in Stung Treng are listed land entry points. Cham Yeam and Poipet are marked temporarily closed for eVisa entry until further notice.
For a Seoul-origin flight, look at the airport code of the last flight into Cambodia. A connection elsewhere does not change the Cambodian entry point. Older guides may still name the former Phnom Penh airport; use the current booking and official portal.
Travelers combining Thailand and Cambodia overland should pay particular attention to Poipet's current status. Do not build a fixed itinerary around a checkpoint without checking whether it accepts eVisa on the travel date.
e-Arrival and v-Pass for Korean travelers
e-Arrival is a declaration, not a visa. Complete it separately even after eVisa approval. The government recommends submitting it within seven days before arrival. Use the official Cambodia e-Arrival portal and keep the confirmation accessible offline.
v-Pass is the electronic immigration record that may replace a passport stamp. After entry, check the message or record for the permitted stay. Save a screenshot and email copy. The electronic admitted-until date is more important than assumptions based on a 30-day itinerary.
If no v-Pass record arrives or the details appear wrong, ask immigration promptly. Resolving a discrepancy near entry is easier than discovering it at departure.
South Korean travel scenarios
A four-night Siem Reap break
A South Korean tourist flying into SAI for four nights can prepare a Tourist eVisa, complete e-Arrival and carry the approval. The one-month maximum does not require the visitor to stay a full month; the stated itinerary remains four nights.
Phnom Penh meetings plus tourism
Informal meetings do not automatically define the immigration category. The traveler should describe the real purpose and verify whether a tourist or business route is appropriate. Paid local activity is not authorized by a Tourist eVisa.
Cambodia entered from Vietnam by land
Bavet is currently listed for eVisa entry. The traveler should still confirm the exact crossing on the transport booking and recheck operational status shortly before travel.
A return trip after leaving Cambodia
Type T eVisa is single entry. Leaving Cambodia normally uses that entry. A later return requires a new visa or another valid entry basis.
Group tours, couples and children
Every traveler requires an individual passport-linked document, including a child. A group leader can organize files but should not assume one approval covers the group. Use a clear naming convention containing traveler name and passport-ending digits without exposing full passport numbers unnecessarily.
Couples with different nationalities must follow the rule for each passport. Korean residence, a Korean visa or departure from Incheon does not make another passport Korean for Cambodian immigration purposes.
For a child traveling with one parent or another adult, carry consent or relationship evidence that may be requested by the airline or departure authorities. Visa approval does not replace child travel safeguards.
What to check before clicking submit
- The English name matches the passport character for character.
- The passport number contains no confusion between letters and digits.
- Nationality is Republic of Korea or the equivalent option used by the form, not North Korea.
- Date of birth and passport expiry use the requested date order.
- The passport image is readable at full size.
- The portrait is recent and unfiltered.
- The arrival date falls inside visa validity.
- The chosen entry port currently accepts eVisa.
- The total price and service provider are understood.
- The email address can be accessed during travel.
Common reasons an application may be delayed
Delay does not necessarily mean refusal. Common preventable causes include blurred passport images, an unreadable machine-readable zone, portrait quality, payment verification, inconsistent dates or identity fields that require review. Applications made around public holidays can also take longer in calendar days.
Do not alter or fabricate supporting documents. If official support asks for a replacement image, provide a clean version from the genuine passport. If the passport itself is damaged or identity details changed, resolve the passport issue first.
Keep travel bookings flexible until the required permission is secured. A non-refundable ticket does not compel immigration authorities to accelerate or approve a case.
Arrival and immigration checklist
Carry the physical passport used in the application, the eVisa approval PDF, e-Arrival confirmation, first accommodation address and onward or return travel evidence. A printed approval is a useful backup. Store digital copies offline because airport connectivity may be unreliable.
At the border, answer questions honestly and consistently. Immigration can ask for travel purpose, accommodation and departure plans. An eVisa permits the holder to seek entry; it is not an unconditional guarantee.
After admission, verify the v-Pass record and set a reminder before the departure deadline. Overstay can lead to fines and immigration consequences.
How this page supports a safer application decision
A high-intent traveler often wants to apply immediately, but the correct first action is verification. This guide puts visa type, route, passport data and timing before payment. That sequence reduces applications that cannot be used for the actual trip.
Independent assistance can be useful when its role is transparent: reviewing the form, checking image readability or explaining status. It should never claim to be the Cambodian government, hide its service fee or promise approval. Travelers remain responsible for truthful information.
Rules and checkpoint operations change. The update date and official sources below are part of the answer, not decoration. Recheck them near departure.

Official sources and review policy
A high-intent checklist for a short Korea–Cambodia holiday
Before paying, place the passport, final flight segment and accommodation confirmation side by side. Confirm that the English name is consistent, the Cambodian airport code appears on the itinerary and the first night's address is available. This five-minute comparison prevents the most expensive errors: applying against the wrong passport, selecting an unsupported port or entering a date based on departure rather than arrival.
For a weekend or four-night break, the visa still follows the same process as a longer tourist visit. A short stay does not remove e-Arrival or passport-validity expectations. Apply early enough that a delayed result does not consume the entire trip.
Korean romanization and identity matching
A Korean name may appear in Hangul, with or without a hyphen in Latin characters, and in different given-name orders across accounts. The passport controls the visa record. If the airline booking omits a harmless space but retains the same letters, consult the airline rather than changing the visa data away from the passport.
Pay special attention to nationality selections. “Korea, Republic of,” “Republic of Korea” and “South Korea” may describe the correct country. “Democratic People's Republic of Korea” is a different nationality. Review the full option before selecting it.
Regional travel and single-entry consequences
A common itinerary moves from Korea to Cambodia, then Vietnam or Thailand, and later returns to Cambodia for a flight home. Tourist Type T is single entry, so the return is a second Cambodian entry. The traveler needs a new permission or a different lawful arrangement. A connecting flight that remains airside may be different, but tickets involving immigration and baggage collection should be checked with the airline.
Write each country entry on a simple timeline. This exposes whether one eVisa is enough and whether the selected Cambodian checkpoint supports it. Route planning is part of visa compliance, not a separate travel detail.
Final 24-hour document review in South Korea
On the day before departure, do not submit a new application unless official support instructs it. Instead, verify that the approved PDF opens, the passport number matches, e-Arrival is complete and the Cambodian arrival airport has not changed. Download documents to the phone rather than leaving them inside a browser tab.
Check the final flight status and connection requirements. A delayed connection may change arrival time but usually not the passport identity; a rebooking to a different Cambodian airport or land border can affect eVisa usability. Ask the airline which port will perform Cambodian immigration.
Share the itinerary and document backup with a trusted contact, but conceal unnecessary passport data. At check-in, present the same Republic of Korea passport used online. After entry, compare the v-Pass date with the planned departure and keep the record until the trip is complete.
