Start with the Turkish passport page
The passport data page should control every form answer. Turkish identity records may include characters such as Ç, Ğ, İ, Ö, Ş and Ü, while some international booking systems, bank screens and the passport machine-readable zone may simplify letters or omit marks. Cambodia documentation should not be built from a nickname, an English work signature, an old school record or a social profile.
Compare the visible name fields, passport number, nationality, birth date and expiry date before typing. If an online field refuses a Turkish character, use the international spelling reflected by the passport and keep that treatment consistent across the eVisa, e-Arrival and ticket. Pay special attention to dotted I and dotless I, compound given names, hyphenated surnames and recently changed family names.
If a passport renewal is likely before departure, finish that renewal first. A visa approval tied to an old passport number can fail at check-in or at the Cambodian border even when the traveller is clearly the same person.
Route design before payment
Choose the Cambodian entry point before submitting the application. The eVisa-accepting list currently includes Techo International Airport (KTI), Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI), Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS), Bavet and Tropaeng Kreal. Poipet and Cham Yeam are temporarily closed for eVisa entry, so an itinerary that depends on those checkpoints needs to be changed or checked through another lawful route.
Travellers leaving from Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Trabzon or another Turkish city may connect through Istanbul and then Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Seoul, Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. Those are transit cities. The Cambodian port is the first place where the traveller is admitted into Cambodia: KTI for Phnom Penh, SAI for Siem Reap, KOS for the coast, or the named land crossing for road entry.
Separate tickets increase document risk because baggage collection can force entry into a transit country. A Cambodian eVisa cannot replace Thai, Vietnamese, Singaporean, Gulf or other transit permission. Build the route so every country on the way is covered.
When Type T fits and when it does not
Tourist Type T is designed for holidays, temple visits, Phnom Penh city stays, Siem Reap and Angkor trips, Kampot, Kep, Battambang, Sihanoukville, islands, cultural touring, family tourism and short private visits where no work is performed. It can also work for a multi-country Southeast Asia journey when Cambodia is one stop and the first Cambodian entry point accepts eVisa.
It is not a work permit. Do not use Type T for paid services, local employment, operating a business, teaching, journalism, study, residence, sponsored assignments or volunteering that functions like labour. Being paid by a Turkish employer does not automatically make activity in Cambodia tourist activity. If the trip has clients, a host organization, training duties or business operations, check the correct Cambodian category before leaving Turkey.
This page is not written for diplomatic, service, special, emergency or temporary passports. Those documents can have separate procedures, and holders should confirm the rule through official channels.
Application sequence from Turkey
- Confirm the purpose. The trip should be tourism or a short private visit without work.
- Verify the passport. Check condition, blank pages, expiry and exact Latin spelling.
- Resolve Turkish letters. Match the passport and MRZ approach where the form cannot accept marks.
- Pick the Cambodian border point. Use KTI, SAI, KOS, Bavet or Tropaeng Kreal for eVisa planning.
- Prepare images. Upload a sharp passport page and a clear portrait without cropped edges.
- Pay in USD. Expect the Turkish card issuer to convert or settle the transaction in TRY.
- Store the submission record. Save the reference, receipt and a copy of the entered answers.
- Read the approval line by line. Compare name, passport number, nationality and validity dates.
- File e-Arrival later. Complete the separate Cambodia e-Arrival within seven days before arrival.
- Carry offline copies. Keep printed and downloaded documents through every connection.
One accurate application is better than several rushed attempts. If a screen freezes or a bank confirmation arrives late, check the case status and card activity before starting again.
Timing for flights through Istanbul and Asia
Standard Type T processing is three business days, but practical timing should include weekends, Cambodian holidays, photo replacement, bank authentication and possible route corrections. Many travellers apply about one to two weeks before the trip so there is time to fix ordinary issues while the three-month entry period still covers the intended arrival.
Use the date of arrival in Cambodia, not the date the first aircraft leaves Turkey. Long connections can cross midnight, and a delay in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Seoul or Vietnam can move the Cambodian entry date. The e-Arrival seven-day timing should be counted against that Cambodian arrival date.
If the airline changes the schedule after approval, keep the new itinerary and check whether the arrival declaration should be corrected. Do not change name spelling or create a second identity record to handle a routine flight delay.
TRY, cards and payment records
Our Tourist Visa application service fee is USD 90. Turkish banks may show the final amount in TRY, add exchange spread or foreign transaction fees, require 3D Secure approval, or block international online use until the cardholder enables it. The statement amount can differ from a simple exchange-rate search.
Private assistance fees, when used, are separate from the Cambodian Tourist visa service fee. A support service may review documents, provide reminders or help organize the file, but it cannot guarantee approval, command faster official processing or force admission at the border. Review the full price and data policy before entering card and passport details.
Keep proof of payment with the visa file. A failed charge may still appear as pending, and repeated attempts can complicate reconciliation. During the journey, keep one backup payment method away from the phone case for hotels, replacement tickets, medical costs or document emergencies.
e-Arrival after visa approval
Cambodia e-Arrival is not the same document as the eVisa. Complete it separately within seven days before entering Cambodia, using the same ordinary Turkish passport, spelling, route, arrival date and first Cambodian address. Save the QR or confirmation offline and print it with the visa approval.
Every traveller needs their own record. Families should check each Turkish passport number, date of birth and character treatment individually, especially for children and newly issued documents. A group email address or tour organizer does not remove the traveller's need to hold accessible copies.
For a hotel stay, use the booking details that match the first night. For a private host, keep the host name, phone number and Cambodian address. Vague accommodation answers can slow airline or border questions.
Turkish MFA and emergency preparation
Before departure, review travel and consular information from the Republic of Turkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Cambodia and for any transit countries. This is not a Cambodian visa requirement, but it helps the traveller and family know who to contact if a passport is lost, a hospital visit occurs, unrest affects a route or an airline disruption strands the passenger.
Insurance should match the real activities. Check medical treatment, evacuation, motorcycle and scooter exclusions, diving or trekking, theft reports, cancellation, missed connections and pre-existing conditions. Visa approval does not mean an insurer will cover an excluded activity.
Store Turkish consular contacts, insurer assistance numbers, passport scans, the eVisa, e-Arrival confirmation and first accommodation details in more than one format. Printed copies in cabin baggage still matter when roaming fails, a phone is stolen or a banking app requires the missing device.
Families, groups and minors
Do not copy one adult's details into every family application. Turkish relatives may share surnames and similar given names while passport numbers, birth dates, issue dates and spellings differ. Label each approval file with the traveller's passport name and passport number so check-in staff can compare documents quickly.
For minors travelling with one parent, relatives, a school group, a sports team or another organizer, carry any consent, custody or departure documents required by Turkish practice, transit authorities and airlines. Cambodian visa approval does not replace those separate requirements.
Group travellers should keep their own reference number, receipt, eVisa and e-Arrival QR even when an agency prepared the forms. If a connection is missed or the group separates, individual access to the documents becomes essential.
Side trips and single-entry planning
Because the long flight from Turkey often justifies a regional itinerary, Turkish travellers commonly combine Cambodia with Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia. Plan the country order before buying non-refundable tickets. Once a Type T holder enters Cambodia and then leaves, that single entry has been used.
A traveller who enters Phnom Penh, goes to Vietnam and later wants to fly home from Cambodia needs another valid Cambodian entry basis. Similarly, permission to visit another Southeast Asian country does not complete Cambodia e-Arrival or change the Cambodian visa validity.
Land travel deserves extra care. If a tour description still names Poipet or Cham Yeam for an eVisa entry, treat it as outdated for current planning and verify the official port list. Bavet and Tropaeng Kreal are the listed land options for eVisa entry in this guide.
Mistakes to remove before boarding
- Using Turkish characters in one record and MRZ-style spelling in another without checking consistency.
- Mixing dotted I and dotless I in a name field.
- Entering Istanbul, Bangkok or Doha as though it were the Cambodian entry port.
- Reading the three-month entry window as a three-month stay.
- Applying before a planned passport renewal.
- Forgetting that Cambodia e-Arrival is separate and due within seven days before entry.
- Building a land route around Poipet or Cham Yeam while those points are closed for eVisa entry.
- Retrying payment without checking 3D Secure, pending USD authorizations and card settings.
- Letting a tour operator keep the only copy of the approval.
Before the first flight, compare passport, eVisa, e-Arrival, ticket, first accommodation, insurance and payment receipt. The same person, same passport number and same arrival plan should appear throughout.
Problems after approval
If a mistake is found after the eVisa is issued, compare it against the passport and use the proper support route. Do not edit a PDF, hide a mismatch or assume an airline will overlook a wrong passport number. A small spelling issue can become a large travel problem when the machine-readable record does not align.
If the passport is lost or damaged before travel, resolve the passport issue first and rebuild the Cambodia file around the new document where required. If loss or theft happens in Cambodia, contact local authorities where required, Turkish consular assistance and Cambodian immigration. A replacement travel document may still need Cambodian exit procedures.
Overstay should not be treated as a cheap extension method. Type T allows up to one month. If illness, accident, cancellation or document loss threatens the departure date, seek qualified help before permission expires.
Frequently asked questions for Turkish travellers
Does an ordinary Turkish passport need a visa for Cambodia?
Yes. For tourism, ordinary Turkish passport holders need a Cambodian visa unless they already have another valid Cambodian status.
What does Cambodia charge for Tourist Type T?
This application service lists the Tourist Type T Tourist visa service fee as USD 90.
How many days should I allow for processing?
Routine processing is listed as three business days. Add margin for weekends, bank checks, holidays or image corrections.
Does the three-month validity mean a three-month visit?
No. It is the period for entering after issue. The tourist stay is up to one month and the visa is single entry.
When do I submit Cambodia e-Arrival?
Submit it separately within seven days before the date you enter Cambodia.
Which spelling should I use for Ç, Ğ, İ, Ö, Ş or Ü?
Use the passport as the source. Where a form cannot accept marks, follow the passport's international or MRZ-style treatment and keep all travel records consistent.
Are Poipet and Cham Yeam available for my eVisa trip?
No for current eVisa planning. They are temporarily closed for eVisa entry.
Can I do paid work or services on Type T?
No. Tourist Type T is for tourism or short private visits, not employment, services, study or residence.
What should I prepare for a lost passport in Cambodia?
Keep copies and emergency contacts offline. If it happens, contact local authorities where required, Turkish consular assistance and Cambodian immigration.
Official sources
Recheck official sources shortly before payment and travel because port access, forms and operating notices can change. This page provides independent information and application support; it is not a Cambodian or Turkish government website. Keep the official pages bookmarked in case airline staff ask for the current rule during departure screening.
Final Turkey departure check
Before leaving Turkey, confirm that the ordinary passport is valid and undamaged, the eVisa matches the passport, e-Arrival is complete, the Cambodian entry point is currently eligible, and insurance covers the planned activities. Keep printed and offline records from the first Turkish airport through Cambodia immigration. If a core fact changes, correct the document chain before boarding rather than trying to explain the mismatch at the counter.
